Myocarditis Age 5-11 Update
The risk of myocarditis in the 5-11 age group with a 3-week dosing interval is incredibly low.
This most recent CDC data shows 12 case reports out of 8.5+ million doses with an incidence rate of between 2 per million after Dose 2 for females and 4.3 per million after Dose 2 for males.
All 12 have been discharged from the hospital and recovered at home.
To put into context, this rate is around the same or lower than what we see with the extremely rare anaphylactic reactions with the vaccines. Very reassuring data and shows us that the risk of myocarditis is much lower in the 5-11 age group, as we had originally anticipated.
